This book is a lifesaver!!! It has explanations that show you how they got the answer, which simplified the problems and helped me complete even the most difficult past papers wayy before the actual hsc, so it will really relieve stress and improve my confidence for yr 12. Also my marks went up from 40% to 80%+ (when completing past papers NOT the actual HSC im not even in yr 12 yet)
What's even better was it didn't take v long to finish it (1 week) and I understood it way better and in a much shorter period of time compared to chunky textbooks that take like 3 or 4 weeks just to read with no grasp of information. Now I bought the rest of the books for my other subjects like Ext 2, 1 Math and physics so I can really be ahead of my peers even in an already top 15 selective school.
When I study for exams, I usually do TONNES of past papers from the top 10 or so schools. Although it worked really well for me for math, I could not do ANYTHIHNG at first glance for chem. Even after I "studied" the textbook I got like 5-40% when doing past papers, but after I went through this textbook, and did my tution homework, looked at notes, and a few papers later I got 80% plus. So, although this book may look "thin" or that idea of "I can just look at past papers" or "why waste money when I can just do past papers FREEof charge" - yeah, that was my initial response but it was so helpful and the explanations at the back was like a tutor explaining it to you. It's also rly similar to the JR past papers and really improves confidence and acts a background to when you do those past papers, and even easier when you do your own school's past papers!!!
My favorite feature of this book is really how similar it is to deemed band 5-6 questions. It will not only leverage you to answer questions your peers find 'hard' but gives you that confidence boost when they go "how did you find that easy?!" and you sit there like "oh I used atar notes" but forced to say "idk it was so hard" or "I did so bad!". Seriously, these type of books really give you that competitive gain amongst peers and having someone who has sat the test and knows the content required to be able to write a book to specifically teach students also gives YOU an insight to the mind of a high achiever, how they write, thought process and answer structure and what you need to compete, learn from and really set yourself up for the best. But idk, this book maybe isn't the best for everyone who follows my personal method of learning but if you're someone who tends to rote learn when they self study, or is SICK and tired or reading textbooks, understanding it but not really able to answer questions and get them right, I think this is for you :sob:. BTW im only writing a long review becus its not hyped enough. Like why is everyone hyping those chunky textbooks or 'hand written notes'?!??! personally it is ineffective and just takes so long with no results.. also ppl im not the owner making an account n tryna sell u a marketing product!!! I genuinely think its good okay and love to yap idkkkk
